A flatbed camper starts by removing your pickup bed and replacing it with a tray. We build these on the Norweld tray — aluminium, light for what it is, and robust enough to be the permanent floor of the truck.
What you get for giving up the bed is room. Four Wheel Campers’ own summary of the flatbed line is “more spacious and more storage for all of your gear”, and the tray carries external storage around the camper that a pickup bed simply has nowhere to put. It is the bigger commitment of the two paths, and the wrong one if you still need a conventional bed.

What happens to my original truck bed?
It comes off to make room for the tray. Talk to us about it when we scope the build — whether you keep it, sell it, or store it is worth deciding up front rather than on the day.
Why a flatbed instead of a slide-in?
Space and storage. A tray is built to carry the camper and adds usable storage around it, which a pickup bed has nowhere to put. The trade is permanence: a slide-in comes back out and leaves you a normal truck, a flatbed conversion doesn’t.
